Project Note:

I created this pattern for my mom whose name is Elaine. She is a breast cancer survivor and a professional, classical cellist. I wanted to make a loose fitting but rather glamourous clothing piece for her to be able to wear to her day job, but also one that was suitable to wear to her performances. In addition, it needed to hide her mastectomy and be warm for use in winter.

This pattern can be easily adjusted up or down in size by adding or subtracting multiples of 12 from the beginning chain.

Finishing

1)Join lapel to one front panel (I chose to sew this with a needle)
2)Dc down the inside of the front panel that does not have the lapel. This is to give the loops a place to join as well as provide a clean edge.
3)Join shoulder pieces to front and back panels (I chose to sew these on to avoid bulk)
4)Sc from bottom of one front panel around to the other. DO NOT go across the bottom. This is to give you an edge to join the sides and a clean border at the armholes
5)Join sides leaving about 10.5-11 inches for armholes (I chose to sc join the sides for strength)
6)Sew on button loops
7)Sew buttons to lapel
8)Weave in any remaining ends
